The Faculty of Architecture I of the Politecnico di Torino and the GSA Konkuk University in Seoul are working together in a common didactical project. The exchange of ideas and informations through a multi-cultural logic is behind this attempt. The blog tool further improves investigation.
Welcome
In this period the two universities interested in this exchange program are working on a little site in Seoul, in the quarter of Hongik, that can host a five floor building.
The building has to create new perspectives for the functionality of the BANGS. Bangs, that in korean means "rooms", is a space where people can have different pleasure times. There are different types, that have different function like drinking soju (tipical drink in Korea), or playing boardgames, watching a DVD, reading a manga, having a relax time, playing karaoke and other different uses...
It's possible seeing examples in the section called BANG STUDIO.
Now the students are working on these themes, creating new structures and new types of function diagrams of the building that will insist on the studio area.

in your opinion is box the best shape to host a bang?
box is the most conventional way of doing anything in architecture. if you want to connect more the architecture with the program, then you have to explore more the form each "room" can take to accommodate "that" specific program. don't stop to box! try more!!!
